Nancy’s career in healthcare began in 1993 when she started working as a nurse’s assistant while studying nursing at Kentucky Wesleyan College. For the next 14 years, she worked in direct patient care, gaining valuable experience and knowledge of the healthcare industry.
In 2007, Nancy took a job in the hospital quality department, where she became involved in the hospital’s revenue cycle. It was during this time that she began to learn all areas of the revenue cycle, and her passion for the subject grew.
Nancy went on to assist the hospital revenue cycle department in creating a clinical documentation improvement program, which helped providers understand the importance of compliant documentation to merit reimbursement. Additionally, she worked in a health system revenue cycle as denial’s manager and as the Director of Revenue cycle. These experiences allowed her to gain a deeper understanding of the complexities of the healthcare revenue cycle, and she realized that she wanted to pursue a career in this area.
In 2011, Nancy earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Murray State University. She also obtained several certifications, including Certified Clinical Documentation Specialist (CCDS), Certified Professional Coder (CPC), and Certified Professional Medical Auditor (CPMA).
With her extensive knowledge of the healthcare revenue cycle, Nancy joined Advantum Health, a healthcare revenue cycle management company. At Advantum, Nancy works closely with providers to ensure that they have the compliant documentation needed to receive the reimbursement they deserve.
The healthcare industry is constantly evolving, and Nancy is always learning and growing along with it. She enjoys helping Advantum’s clients succeed and appreciates the challenges presented by constant scrutiny from payers.
Nancy finds peace and relaxation at the ocean, which she considers her happy place. Despite the challenges of the healthcare industry, Nancy remains committed to helping providers navigate the complexities of the revenue cycle and receive the reimbursement they deserve.
